We offer tremendous opportunities for drivers that few, if any, other trucking companies can provide. Our drivers have the flexibility of driving in the three main divisions of van, temperature control, and flatbed/specialized. Within these divisions, the opportunities consist of national, regional, or local driving and involve single, team, and dedicated or private fleet drivers. The company has a trainer fleet available where certified trainers assist less experienced drivers to freshen up their skills before they are allowed seated in a truck as a single driver. Qualified trainers are assigned one driver for one to eight weeks of training. Trainers receive additional weekly compensation for providing this service.

THESE JOKERS HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RESPECT FOR THEIR DRIVERS.IT’S ALL”HURRAY FOR US AND TO HELL W/YOU”.THEIR MGT HAS THE LOWEST MORALE IV’E EVER SEEN IN ANY CORP,AND THEY DO THEIR LEVEL BEST TO PASS IT ON TO US.HOME TIME IS A FARCE…[I WAS LEFT OUT FOR 5.5 MOS LAST YEAR]THEY HAVE NEVER GOT ME “HOME” ON TIME FOR DOCTOR APPTS ETC.1 WEEK LATE FOR MY 1ST VACATION. WHAT I DO FOR “HOME TIME” NOW IS TELL ‘EM I WANT TO BE “HOME” AT A CERTAIN TIME,[USUALY 5 TO 7 WKS]AND WHEREVER I HAPPEN TO BE ON THAT DATE IS WHERE I SHUTTER DOWN…CRETE AND I BOTH KNOW THAT ” HOME TIME” IS JUST A PIPE DREAM…..
Crete Carrier Corp Review by I've been Ostergarded, March 28, 2010
Any company that has “recruiting banner trailers” and advertises on XM radio says it all. Word of mouth and you don’t have to do all this crap. Meet the President and CEO
Tonn Ostergard and your skin will crawl! Gives trucking a bad name. Save your Trucking career and self respect and don’t believe their lying garbage.
Crete Carrier Corp Review by Bob Oppenheimer, December 19, 2009
Wow! What happened to Crete? Sounds like they are a bottom
feeder company now. Low pay, low mileage, old equipment, cheap freight customers, sorry to hear it for you guys.

Ive been with Crete/Shaffer/Hunt for 16 months.Everyone needs time off and respect.I believe(could be me)if you treat others well they will respect you. Also you get out what your able to put in.I get home timely after 30 days for 5 at home now they have changed their policy. It’s also about the time I reach 10,000 miles for the month too.I’m not concerned about low miles yet.I’m glad I’m working in this economy.Get ready for the northeast with Crete..setting in PA,NJ etc. They have lots of yards so its up to you to find them and run legal equipment.Ive gotten trailers with 4 illegal tires,drop/hook.They work a point system here, you get 15 points in a year and your gone. One log mistake in the month is one point.Ticket=points, accident=points, points and more points…Get through the first year and the points fall off the month you got them.Take a trailer in for PM and get 1/4 point for you.Go to a safety meeting get a good point, these also fall off one year later. If you drive x amount of miles you get a raise else you stay the same.I have declined a load I thought was a illegal run. They will try you.Ive also been 5 days before a shower too.You must not log more than 60 mph.Eat out of a cooler or fridge or you’ll starve to death.I park at every Walmart I can find. They don’t care if you park only on off ramps. They have good qualities. They watch you so you don’t mess up their bottom line. You might get home on your birthday sometime unexpectedly.
Crete Carrier Corp Review by Tommy Anderson, April 2, 2009
Here! Here! latest reviews hit the nail on the head. After 11, oh make that 10 1/4 yrs the attitude of management is astounding. A Son-and-law President and CEO and his drivers aren’t crap attitude have turned this company on it’s head. The country is in a recession and like many companies you see now, upper level management pats themselves on the back, takes huge pay increases and dumps on the workers. Anniversary date and I’m history too, to new drivers here, good luck. A family run company and you better be related.
Crete Carrier Corp Review by Bobby Jones, March 30, 2009
Recent changes have really put a damper on this company. Pet Policy changes, trucks 62 mph, loss of long time customers, general unfriendly attitude from management, lower pay scale, dramatic decrease in driver mileage, the list could go on and on. Be careful talking to drivers…they pay a $1000 recruiting bonus. As always do your homework. You’ll avoid many disappointments.
Crete Carrier Corp Review by James Nelson, March 27, 2009
A company definitely in decline. Driver relations are deteriorating rapidly. Mileage has fallen on average of 30% for national drivers. Equipment is getting much older and maintenance is minimal. General attitude of management “you dont like it, quit”. See recent pay scale decrease, trucks turned back to 62 mph, low weekly mileage, decreased home time and huge increase in no freight sitting empty on the road. Most experienced drivers with company reaching anniversary day, taking vacation and leaving company.
Crete Carrier Corp Review by James Nelson, March 27, 2009
Definitely a company in decline. Low freight availability results in alot of downtime on the road. Company equipment condition in decline due to many cost cutting moves in this area. Recent pay scale reductions, trucks turned back to 62 mph, regional dispatch, decrease in hometime(one day off for 6 out) and general unfriendly management attitude towards drivers creates a more hostile work environment. Many resent management changes have resulted in a much different Acklie Company attitude. Do your homework before deciding on this company.

Everyone knows it takes time to adjust to any new company and it took me over a year to adjust considering not only going to a company position from owning my own truck.I also moved and lost my brother the same year and thru it all crete was very accommidating and understood that i also had a life to manage and enjoy.overall crete carrier is a great company to work for and i have never,NEVER been asked to do anything illegal.the pay is outstanding and its up to you how much you want to earn and be out on the road..it’s all a mind-set,either you like the road or you don’t.good luck on your search and remember to give yourself a little time wherever you go.
Crete Carrier Corp Review by Anonymous, January 18, 2009
I have worked for this company going on 6 years. They do expect 14 to 17 days out.If this is a problem for you, they also have regional and dedicated runs that get you home weekly. The company has a fuel program that requires you to fuel at points designated by a computer program and the trucks have optimized idle(this works like the thermostat in your home, and can be anoying at first).Dispatch is not required to get you home, that’s your job.You tell the driver manager when you want to go home and he makes it happen.Pay and benifits are the best in the business(Long haul non union}Equipment is new(3 years or newer}They are knit picking here;the rules must be followed. You never have to take a load you don’t have the hours to run(safety dept.here will back you up,I promise. Miles are good, rules are strict, logging must be accurate, pay and benifits are good, but if you are a slacker or don’t understand that the company must practice good business practices to survive, this is not the company for you. I’ve been driving for 27 years I know a good company when I see one.

Good luck at Crete, better than me and a few more that was at orientation for a new company this week, problem with their dispatchers is they don’t seem to care about the hours of service, they’ll sent you loads you can’t make legal and won’t listen to anything you say about why you can’t make it, watch out for the loads you don’t have an opportunity to reject, they’ll send it anyway, never saw a company that dispatches the way they do, don’t stay out 3 or 4 weeks and ask to go home, think that’s where I made everybody mad, that’s when all the stuff started going wrong for me, not trying to bash any company, but, I was there 4 months and I’m glad I’m gone, I’m with a new company now making more money, a truck that you can idle with out it shutting off and on all night (optimize idle) when I need fuel I pull in and get it and I decide when how I want to run , after I run 2300 miles, my pay jumps 3 cents more a mile, that’s 42 cpm for that week, so I’ll just keep that left door closed.
