Falcon Transport Review by Alan Griffiths, February 1, 2011
I drove for Falcon in the mid late 90’s so my opinion may be way off compared to what they are now. Joined them straight out of trucking school and was driving solo after two weeks with a trainer, a bit disconcerting, but I survived. Didn’t make much money but I was a rookie and got what I expected. Overall, enjoyed the time, great folks like Aggie and Chuck at the West Middlesex yard. I drove out of their Paulsboro NJ yard but I think that may be closed now. The trucks were well looked after and always had good rubber all round, and not rotting retreads like you see on so many tractors and trailers. Mostly ran East Coast to the Michigan area, occasionly Iowa, Tennessee or Missouri. Great place to start a trucking career and find out if its the job you want. I didn’t give them any BS and they did right by me.

I worked first as a flatbed, steel-hauler with Compass / Falcon.
- Then as a Driver – Trainer.
was given a Great truck.
Taught my students how to safely secure big loads.
How to earn money by turning up on time and not sitting in truckstops.
e.g. Sitting in our terminal near Chicago, I’d had a shower.
Had already loaded my big coil. And was waiting for my next
student. As they looked for their Trainers.
I heard. “He’s over there. The very best Trainer we have. ”
Two choices as a Trainer;-
Very quickly, you can decide on the ‘Greyhound Option’-
You make a phone call back to base. And drop him at the nearest Greyhound bus terminal.
Else – you help the student become a Quality Driver.
Only one logbook, of course. But you show them how to log 1,000 km – legally each day.
To contact the local agent early, to pick up a backload.
FALCON / COMPASS ?
I’d take MY truck into their main depot. Great support mechanics.
A Quality company.
Yes – I sometimes hauled containers for Falcon.

Falcon is a sucks… Equipment is crap and company is to spread out and un organized to keep up with… after I finaly get to leave i probably would not consider going back. You can’t make decent money there.

I worked for them 6 months, started right after graduating from trucking school. It’s a descent company with International trucks. But the only thing that I don’t like about Falcon is that they using CH Robinson brokers too much. It means you have to call broker and they giving you direction which 50% of a time is incorrect and its just waist of time and energy. And I hate brokers loads with passion. They do have dedicated runs but you have to wait like 2 years or something to get one. Later on I got burned out with all this and quit. It’s a nice company to get an experience 6 month or a year but after that you better start looking for some other company that pays more and have dedicated runs.
