us xpress sucks! this is the worst of the worst company to drive for ever! they treat drivers like sh*t! they get you enough miles to pay for the truck! no fu**ing home time. i put in for home time 17 days in advance. i live in delaware, ended up in tunnel hill,ga a day before i was to be home for my daughters graduation. and they hate giving home time! lease trucks are garbage! total sh*t trucks. and no no no, the trucks aren’t 07’s with only 24 months or less use. they don’t even allow you to see service records for the trucks…….what does that tell you? covering up something? like lack of service or poorly maintained trucks? i’ll tell you! 4 days into my lease. turbo goes in the truck… down for 3 days! less then 3 weeks later, injector ring and injector goes… leaks fuel into coolant.. down for 2 more days,..see a tren? nothing but a joke! had to pay for hotels and everything else! so, steer clear of this scam!

Us Xpress a pretty decent company, Their not the best, but neither are the rest. I worked for them for about 4 years. I pretty rocky at start their not in a hurry to put you in a truck. They tell you that you get 1 day off for every week out and that they would give you loads that take you by home when it comes available when its not home time yet. Its no true if you want to go home on a certaint date you better put in an earlier date you usaully get home 3-5 days later. If you want miles you better bug the hell out of your driver manager Because if your queit and sit under they radar you might be sitting. When i first started they said that they would never ship on rail. They felt it would take miles from they driver. They do that now. So average loadhauls went from 600-800miles to about 400-600mi around the time I left. Some good points Are They have a good maintence program. Service on the truck are kept up. If you breakdown your usaully near a place to get the truck fixed. You can pretty much fuel anywhere. They would like for you to fuel at desginated stops. Fuel network Are T/A, Pilot, Ambest, Flying J, Petro Loves and wilco. Trucks has vorad collison systems, autoshift(if you like that, I didnt at first i came to enjoy it,I didnt like going down hill with it cause it was going shift whether you wanted it to or not some of the newer trucks didnt have clutches try taking of on a hill loaded with no clutch). few trucks have passengerside blindspot cameras. Not to much negative about Us xpress A lot of Truckers like to talk negative about Us Xpress. I learned that when I got passed the minor complaints Us Xpress was a good company to work for. I heard a lot worst from many other drivers from other companies. For a Trucking company that came out in the mid 80’s and buy out companies that been out longer and that has been named in the top ten thats making a statement.

I spent my first 5 months with star… I didnt come out from them in any better financial shape than when I went in… they have their good points, but for the most part unless you get one of their dedicated runs (good luck on that) you won’t run a whole lot of miles for your first few months. They dont have tuition reimbursement so you are on your own with that loan while you are out their strugling for miles. They have pretty good equipment and start you out at $.30 per mile after your training period but that stuff doesnt do you much good if you are not running enough miles to make it worth your while… for the 5 months i was there…. I would say i averaged for the whole time probably 1900 miles per week total… that=not good! They sell you that their drivers average 3500-2700, that average comes from tha fact that alot of their dedicated drivers are running 3500+ per week. Newbies in the syatem are not so lucky. But if you are in a hurry to get your training done they are quick about that…they send you out with trainer for 3-4 weeks and require you to do a minimum of 10,000 miles behind the wheel. I got mine done in 14 trips in just around 3 weeks thanks to being put with a trainer on a very aggressive dedicated route. Fuel network is pilot, repairs are pretty easy to get done at their full service terminals. $.30 to start…..$.32 after 6 months. Insurance and stuff after 90 days. Volvos and Freightliners. Weekends home(i never had a problem with that part of it) But as a newbie you do a lot of sitting and waiting….especialy if they send you to florida. I cant say they were a teribble company…but i also cant say they were great…would have been a real good company if they would just run their drivers harder sometime. There are a lot of happy drivers that have been with them for years but their are alos a lot of drivers that had the same experince i did. One other plus for them….if you keep your fuel mileage up to par, after 6 months your trucks are capable of running the actual speed limit of 70 mph…but warning on that, if you at anytime ever crawl over 75 going down hills or anything, they bump you back to about 63…that sucks…anyways, hope I gave you a little helpful info on star….ask anything else you might wanna know about them and i can probably help.
