They will lie to u to stay and guarantee u 25-3200 miles aweek, and u will average 1600, which aint worth the time. They dnt care bout there equiptment and drivers cuz over half there loads r rejected and loads that drivers quit on before. i knew more then my dispatcher and he was a serious dumb ass fleet 48 is suckable fleet i was in trent hodges suck as my risk patcher lol…..

Im a driver from USA Truck. I’ve been with this company since July of 2009. As an overall company I have to give them credit for what they try to do. They truck I’m in right now is a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia, and it is a nightmare! But NONE of this is USA’s fault. They didn’t build the truck. My problem with USA is this. My truck has some pretty freaky stuff going on with it, and 2 months ago I was told all the parts had been ordered to make the repairs, all I had to do was get in to get it done. 5 days ago, I was brought into the VanBuren Terminal and to my horror and shock, the parts had NOT been ordered, and the fuel tank was on National Back order!!! I liked to have hit the roof!! I was furious and I expressed my anger to everyone involved. I was apologized to repeatedly by everyone and assured I would be paid for this crap. So, in a few weeks, when the parts come in, once again I will be brought to the terminal to wait on repairs. It’s frustrating, but in the 13 years I’ve been involved with this industry, I can honestly say, I’m not surprised. Stuff happens. The key to it is to realise that with the economy in the position it is in, the cost of fuel, and everythign else for that matter, I’m just thankful that I have a career to complain about. My fleet manager, Joe Wood, is by far the most amazing and hard working man for the company. I use to have a real bad opinion of the night and weekend crew, but that all changed when I saw what they would do in an emergency. On March 28th, 2010, I was backing into a receivers dock in Virginia, and got the call that my momma had passed. I got on the qualcomm and with the simple statement “my mom died, I need to go home NOW” they made a miracle happen. By the time I was unloaded I had a run that took me straight to Oklahoma City!! I was given the week off and Joe made sure I had cash. Granted i had to pay it all back, but it was at my disposale no questions asked. So I guess what I’m trying to get at is this, to me, USA Truck can’t be beat. I owe them a huge debt of gratitude and loyalty.

Training: I had a very good trainer with USA, I think he tried to teach me as much as he could in the time that I was in his truck and he followed up with me after I went solo and was always very helpful when I still had problems/questions.

Equipment: 80% of their trailers are garbage, rarely maintained or road legal. Much of this can be blamed on drivers for not doing their job with PTIs and insuring that they’re legal. At the same time, when USA actually does get around to pulling a trailer in for maintenance/repairs, they will oftentimes put a new pair of brake shoes on a trailer but never adjust the slack adjusters. A lot of good that does! I’d say that they do a fairly good job maintaining the tractors, especially when the driver reports problems. My problems with tractors were always addressed and corrected, when reported. The absolute best terminal for repairs is Roanoke, VA. Very smart people there in Virginia!

Miles: If you’re homeless then you’ll be happy with making >$200 a week. Don’t get me wrong, some weeks are better and some are worse. But with 96 mile loads that consume 8 hours of time from the first empty mile to empty macro, you might as well be looking for a bankruptcy attorney if you have any bills at home. The worse load I ever got: I got a qualcomm message telling me that another driver was broke down and that I had to go 2 miles to pick up his trailer/load and deliver 13 miles to the final. 6 hours later I was empty and made a whopping $3.30 !!!

Dispatchers: Weekend and night dispatchers are the worse, but basically it doesn’t matter between them and your regular dispatcher. They’re all habitual liars, it’s the nature of the industry for them to get you to do what they need you to do for as little pay as possible. It matters to them not what you make, they value their investors and themselves more than you or your time.

Anytime you’re dispatcher tells you “just knock out this load for me real quick,” it will be short miles and there will be nothing quick about it. More than likely a trainer/team just dropped the load at a drop yard less than 50 miles from the final. You’ll get to make $10 for the next 5-6 hours of your time. Most delivery/pickup appointments are phony, they will give you a time to be somewhere 3 hours before the actual appointment. Sometimes this is okay since some shippers/receivers will take you early. But on a day when you can smell your own funk and you didn’t have time to get a shower because of this nonsense, you’ll be pissed off because you had two hours of your time to do so, but USA donated your time for no reason.

Terminals: This company doesn’t have enough of them, and most of the ones they do have are littered with useless trailers that have been in need of repairs for months. What’s funny is that you can go to Van Buren any day of the week to drop a load, there will be no usable empty trailers there and at least 75 trailers that are out of service. And this is their home office and largest repair facility!

Insurance: It’s horrible, don’t waste your money. You’ll be better off with medicare/medicaid/ER.

Hometime: In my eXPeriennce, if you tell them that you need to be home on a Saturday, if they actually get you home on that day, it will be at 11pm-midnight. They would get me home on my requested date maybe 30% of the time.

Overall, if you love a lot of BS for a little bit of money then USA Truck is for you!!!

I think the above post is a recruiter, or has USA confused with someone else. I have been driving for USA for about 6 months now, and all I can say is they will serve experience purpose. They gave me a job when I got out of CDL school, for this I am grateful. I got a pretty good fleet manager, also I am grateful for that. The pay is not good and school deductions and such will not help you financially. I usually get decent miles and never set for long, which is good, because USA only pays for a moving truck and nothing else. USA doesn’t route you their way and they do not make you get fuel at any certain stop, as long as it’s on their list it’s ok, Which I think is a big plus. I actually quit once over my home-time, drove 200 miles and told them I would turn in my truck at the Roanoke, VA terminal. To my surprise my FM told me to take 48 hours off and think about it, I went back. This gave me a little more respect for them as I felt like I actually mattered to them. The breakdown department and night and weekend dispatch is horrible, I mean horrible. My opinion of USA is that they will get you your experience for a better job, I don’t think new drivers are going to get great jobs first and I am ok with them at this point. I will be leaving after my year is up for better opportunities. Thank you.

I got my CDL from a truck drving school… USA Trainers hate students that comes from truck driving schools. They are very very nasty to students! Most of the triners wants you to kiss their AZZ most of them do!! Would not let you drive tampered with your log book wanted to take your hours of driving and add them to their time! Most only wanted make you look like a Dumb ass! Had only one trainer that was a cool guy and they wanted to get him fired because he wanted to drive all day wanted to sleep at nite! Th e only thing that I can say good is that they gave you a pay advance every week. And let you stay in a decent hotel. They want all drivers to become trainers that is the only way that you can make good money with them!

They lie to their driver, do not take care or maintain equipment. They don’t care if you have a family or a doctors appointment to go to. I had in for home time for 3 months for a doctors appt and they are still running me even though there is another driver going to the area my doctor is in but we can’t even switch trailers. Most of their trailers wouldn’t even pass inspection! They lied about the governors on the trucks, those are set at 60mph not 62mph. All the disrespect and BS is not worth it, find another company I am.

USA Truck put me through a truck driving school to get my CDLs. They sponsored a big part of the school cost and let me pay back my portion as I drove for them. Been there 14 months now and it was the best job decision I ever made. Spent way too long being a low paid grunt on a construction crew. Now I’ve got skills, my CDLs, and a great paycheck each week. I’ve looked around at other trucking companies recently just to see if there’s something better. But I can’t find anything that will compare to the total package that USA Truck has. Pay, benefits, good trucks, lots of miles and they treat me good.

If you need a new career, check out Usa Truck. They will help you out getting your cDLs.
